What is Web hosting? Why Do I need it?
To run a WordPress website, you need 1) a subscription to a web hosting service, 2) a domain name, and 3) the free WordPress software installed.
Web hosting is a service that publishes your website so that people can find it on the internet.
The Pix & Hue program provides monthly web hosting services, installation of the WordPress software and optional domain services.
Is your Web Hosting Required for your Themes?
No, absolutely not. The Pix & Hue WordPress themes are designed to work with any standard WordPress web hosting company. The WordPress Web Hosting program is an optional service for customers looking for personalized setup and ongoing website management.
Can I Switch from Another Website Platform?
Yes! The Pix & Hue Web Hosting program can help you switch from another website platform (like Wix or Squarespace) to WordPress.
We can setup a WordPress website on a temporary URL. This will allow your current website on the other platform to remain live while you work in the background on your WordPress website. When you are ready, you can publish the WordPress website to your main domain name.
Please note that if you are moving from another platform, none of the content will be automatically transferred to your new WordPress website. You will need to manually enter the content into the theme pages.
The Pix & Hue Web Hosting program can help you navigate this more technical process of switching platforms, including assistance with your website domain settings.
What if I have I already have a WordPress site?
If you already have a WordPress website, I can assist with the transfer of your current website to the new web hosting. I can assist with updating the settings of your domain name, as needed.
**When a new theme is installed on your website, all of the pages will be added in addition to what you already have. Activating a new WordPress theme will result in changes to the layouts / styles of any pages you created with a previous theme. However, old pages will not be removed from your website.
If you have single blog posts created with the WordPress editor, all of the blog content will remain the same. The single blog posts will simply take on the style of your new theme.
What does the first purchase include?
The initial purchase of $349 includes the following:
- One theme license for any theme
- Theme installation service
- 12 Months of web hosting services
- One installation of WP Rocket
- Free version of key WordPress plugins installed
- Monthly updates of WordPress and all plugins
After the expiration of the first 12 months, the monthly web hosting services will renew at a rate of $19/month for a 12-month period ($228 in total).
What Else do I have to Purchase?
There are optional items that you may want to buy in addition to the standard service:
1 – As noted in each theme description, some themes use premium fonts to create the styles featured in the theme demo. If you want to use the same exact font styles, you need to purchase a one-time webfont license for any premium fonts noted for your selected theme.
You can also use the theme settings to upload your own font styles instead.
2 – You need to have an active registration for your website domain (like pixandhue.com). I recommend purchasing a website domain separately, but you can also add it on to the Pix & Hue program at the time of purchase to have your domain and web hosting managed together.
3 – At the time of purchase, you can also add-on professional email services managed through Google Workspace ($7/month).
I'm New to WordPress, is this for me?
Yes! The theme pages are crated in Elementor – a fully visual page builder. You can see the exact page update live as you are making changes.
The basic idea is that you select an item in the list for editing, and use the editor to make changes.
No coding or advanced website knowledge is needed.
The themes come with videos and super detailed, step-by-step instructions to help you edit with ease.
Will You Add in My Content to the Pages?
No, the WordPress Web Hosting Program does not include adding in your content to the website.
I will install a copy of the theme demo on your website, which includes placeholder text and images.
After the installation is completed, you will use the Elementor Website Builder to add in your own content.
Elementor is a fully visual web page builder. You can see the exact page update live as you are making changes. Plus, I have detailed video tutorials that help with editing the pages.
What happens after the first 12 months?
After the first 12 months, you will receive a bill to continue using WordPress web hosting on your website at a rate of $19/month. You will be billed each year for a 12-month period, so the total annual bill is $228.
What if I dont want to renew?
It’s important to keep an active subscription to web hosting services to manage any WordPress website. You will receive communication before the next billing period and when future payment is due.
If you do not pay for ongoing web hosting services, your account will be terminated and it can lead to down-time of your website or loss of your WordPress website data.
You can also make arrangements in advanced of the next billing period to switch your website to another platform or web hosting service.
Can I cancel the web hosting services?
Yes, you can cancel the WordPress web hosting services at any time. There is no refund available, but you will not be billed for future services after the date of cancellation.
How does it work with my domain name?
If you already have a domain name, I recommend keeping it active with your current domain registrar. I can help you update the domain settings to point at your WordPress website.
If you don’t own a domain yet, I recommend registering for one on your own through any popular registrar like GoDaddy or Namecheap. I can help you update the domain settings to point at your WordPress website.
The final option is to add on a domain name at the time of purchase with the Pix & Hue WordPress Web Hosting Program. For an additional cost of $35/year, you can have your domain name and web hosting managed together.
What email services are available?
SiteGround offers a subscription to Google Workspace that can be added at the time of purchase for an additional $7/month. You will receive a custom domain email (like [email protected]) plus a professional dashboard to easily manage your email.
If you have an existing subscription to Google Workspace or active email accounts already using your domain, please specify this at the time of purchase so we can ensure the email account is transferred to the new web hosting program.
What about the plugins on my website?
Each theme comes with a recommended list of plugins, which will be activated as part of the theme installation. You are welcome to use any plugin on your website.
When you switch themes, I recommend removing old plugins and themes that are no longer in use.
As part of your monthly support, I will ensure WordPress and all active plugins on your website are updated.
If a bug is introduced by a plugin that is unrelated to the theme, I will identify it for you. However, I cannot help manage third-party plugins that are unrelated to the theme installed on your website.
The best practices are to 1) remove plugins you are no longer using and actively 2) update the plugins that you actually do use. As part of monthly support, you will receive regular updates of all activated plugins.
